Internships and Summer Work

TILL Summer Internship Program

TILL, Inc. is offering paid summer internships to teens and young adults! Funding for this internship program is made available through a partnership with the Urban Youth Collaborative, an initiative of the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (MA DDS) to introduce the wide range of career paths in human services to teens and young adults. The human services field has exciting opportunities, and a variety of departments that interns can gain experience in. Our team at TILL will work with you to match you to positions that interest you and offer an introduction to the scope of programs and services that TILL provides.

Our priority hiring positions for Summer 2024 are Direct Care positions in our day and residential settings. These positions give interns training and hands-on experience working with people with different types of disabilities. You will work as part of a team and make a valuable contribution every day. Here are some details to give you an idea of what the jobs are like.

Residential Support Professionals (RSPs) make it possible for people with disabilities to live in a TILL home with other people with similar needs. Our residential homes feel like home and are each unique. There are four to five residents per home, and residents typically spend their day at a day program, and some work or volunteer. RSPs staff the home to assist residents with daily living tasks, such as getting ready for the day and preparing meals. TILL is committed to helping everyone we support live an active life, connected to activities, people and the community.

One longtime RSP says: “My favorite part of being an RSP is spending time with the individuals we support. We love walking to the bookstore, getting ice cream, and making plans to attend a movie or go to a museum.”

Day Support Professionals (DSPs) work in one of our unique day programs. Our Summer 2024 interns will work in our Watertown, Billerica or Chelsea locations. DSPs work as part of a team with small groups of 4-6 people with disabilities, and assist in program activities, skill development and every day tasks. Day programs are structured and include an educational component; physical, occupational or speech therapies; plus lots of fun activities such as arts and crafts, and music. Depending on where you work, you may spend a good portion of your day going on community outings, visiting parks, museums and even volunteering. Our goal at our day programs is to help the people we support make the most of each day and to live as independently as possible.

As one DSP says: “There is an incredible atmosphere of support at TILL. I love working as part of a team and find real satisfaction in supporting people every day.”
